Why Languedoc Uncovered?

When Abigail Turner and Dominic George first started talking about creating Languedoc Uncovered, they soon realized that between them, they had everything that they needed to be able to offer luxury tours in the region.

Abigail runs the fabulous 15 Grand Rue boutique hotel in the medieval village of Caux, just outside Pézenas and since 2007, Dominic has carved a reputation with Languedoc Wine Tours, as the foremost specialist wine, gastronomy and cultural tour guide in the Languedoc.

Although Languedoc Uncovered will keep you busy during your time with us, we recognize that any free time that you have is important too. That’s why we feel that having a luxury suite rather than just a hotel room will allow you to relax that little bit more, in between a hectic schedule of fascinating visits, tastings and superb meals.

Out on the road, you can expect unique personalized, private visits and tastings at some of the best wine and food producers in the South of France. Your guide, Dominic, has lived and worked in the food and wine business in France for twenty years, and has built up an impressive list of personal and professional contacts which allows Languedoc Uncovered to offer unique visits.

Our keyword is “authenticity.” We want you to come away from the Languedoc having discovered the Real South of France. A world where wine is still the keystone of rural life, and where villages still have a strong attachment to agriculture, and old fashioned, artisanal production methods are still respected.

About Dominic George - your wine tour guide

Dominic George has lived in France for 20 years. After studying languages and then business, he worked for the Flo Restaurant group in Paris, rising through the ranks to become their only non-French Brasserie Director in Paris. He also managed restaurant openings in London for the Flo Group for two years.

It was whilst working in restaurants that Dominic’s interest in food and wine developed. He left the Flo Group to work for a wine agency in Provence, France, where he was responsible for blending, branding and distribution of wine. In 2001, he opened a wine distribution and logistics company in the north of France, before being tempted to move south to run International Sales for a large group of Languedoc wineries.

It was whilst he was working in the Languedoc that he recognized the opportunities that existed in wine and gastronomy tourism. He launched Languedoc Wine Tours in 2008, and the company has gone from strength to strength, and is now undoubtedly the region’s premier wine tour business.

About Abigail Turner - your hostess

Abigail Turner grew up in an in an environment of Antiques, Art and Style and ignited her passion for Interior Decoration and Style. After studying fashion she successfully ran her own clothing design and manufacturing business in Manchester for over 10 years. Looking for a change of direction she moved into Retail management working for both The Gap and Clarks taking her to America and all over the UK launching new stores and concepts. Meanwhile she was renovating properties in her spare time.

Having had enough of corporate life, with her husband Martin, they bought a failing village store in the Ribble Valley and set out to turn it around into the vibrant store it is today. When the renovations of the shop were completed she embarked on finding a home in France with the intention of finding the area they would want to permanently settle in.

Eventually Abi headed off towards to Med to find the dream home they have today. Since 2009 she has run 15 Grand Rue as a boutique Bed and breakfast that is consistently number 1 in Pezenas on Tripadvisor and has been accepted on to some of the most stylish travel listing websites such as Chic Retreats, Sawdays and Furtherafield
